We welcome skaters of all genders and abilities. Whether you're just learning to skate, haven't been on skates in years or are transferring from another league, we'd love to have you join uS.
Skate with us
Our new skater training program is open to ages 18 and up. A dedicated Fresh Meat coach covers basic roller derby skating skills like stance, stops, drops, turns and more. Skaters can either borrow gear from our gear box or provide their own gear. Gear includes:
Helmet
Wrist guards
Knee pads
Quad skates
Mouth guard (please bring your own!)
Our loaner gear selection is limited. Contact us to determine if we have your size--otherwise, we can help you purchase new (or used) gear of your very own.

New Skaters
Become a Referee/NSO
Lava City is supported by volunteer referees and NSOs. Besides reffing our home bouts, refs and NSOs are welcome to officiate at bouts and tournaments throughout the Pacific Northwest and across the nation.
REFS
Interested in wearing stripes? We'll teach you everything you need to know about the game, the rules, the nuances...even how to step up your game and get certified.
NSOs (Non-Skating Officials)
NSOs play important roles in bouts, scrimmages and tournaments. From scorekeeping and scoreboard operation to penalty timing and tracking, NSOs keep skaters and refs on the same page in the heat of the jam. No previous experience required--we'll train you!
